Why We Didn’t Launch Our Own Veg Box

Meet The Growers – Lomah Farm!

Sometimes the best thing you can grow isn’t your own idea… it’s a partnership.

When we first started dreaming up The Pantry, one idea kept coming back to the table: a weekly vegetable box subscription.

It made sense on paper.

We were already working closely with Jersey growers, filling our shelves with local produce including veg from around the Island and talking endlessly about reconnecting people with where their food comes from.

But the more we immersed ourselves in Jersey’s growing community, the more we realised something.

We didn’t need another veg subscription box.

We needed to support the brilliant people already doing it exceptionally well.

Learning Along the Way

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learnt over the past year is that local food isn’t built by one business trying to do everything.

It’s built by growers, farmers, butchers, fishermen, makers, chefs, retailers and customers all pulling in the same direction.

The stronger those connections become, the stronger our local food system becomes too.

That’s something we’re becoming more passionate about every day.

Meet Lomah Farm

If you’ve ever met Ollie or wandered around Lomah Farm, you’ll know it’s a very special place. Nestled in St John, the farm is about so much more than vegetables.

Healthy soils.

Wildlife.

Biodiversity.

Growing alongside nature rather than constantly fighting against it.

It’s thoughtful, regenerative and quietly inspiring.

Every visit leaves us learning something new.

Collaboration Over Competition

When we looked at what Ollie and the team had built, the decision became surprisingly simple. Rather than launching our own subscription and competing for the same customers…

…why not help more people discover theirs?

That’s exactly what this partnership is about.

From this month, The Pantry is proud to become Lomah Farm’s western collection point, making it easier for islanders in this part of Jersey to collect their weekly vegetable boxes.

It feels like a natural fit.

You can collect your beautiful seasonal veg, pick up a few Pantry meals for the freezer, grab some local butter, bread or wine, and head home knowing you’re supporting several independent Jersey businesses in one trip.

Everyone wins.

We’ll still be stocking plenty of beautiful seasonal fruit and veg from our fantastic network of local growers, available to buy in-store or online whenever you need it. This partnership is simply about making Lomah Farm’s own weekly subscription boxes easier to collect in the west of the island. We think collaboration like this makes Jersey’s food community stronger, and we’re really proud to play a small part in that.

Building Something Bigger

One thing we’ve realised is that food is about much more than what’s on the plate. It’s about relationships.

The relationship between grower and soil.

Between customer and producer.

Between neighbouring businesses who choose to work together instead of against one another.

If we genuinely want a thriving local food culture in Jersey, collaboration has to be part of the conversation.

We’re proud to play our small part in that.

Come and See for Yourself

If you’re curious about where your food comes from, we’d really encourage you to visit Lomah Farm’s Open Days!

Meet Ollie.

Walk the fields.

Ask questions.

See the vegetables growing before they reach your kitchen.

It’s a brilliant reminder that good food always starts somewhere.

Usually with someone quietly caring for the soil.

Collect Your Lomah Veg Boxes from The Pantry

Lomah Farm’s weekly vegetable subscriptions are now available to collect from The Pantry by Kismet Cabana.

Fresh, seasonal, thoughtfully grown and now a little easier to pick up if you’re based in the west of the island.

Because sometimes the best way to grow something is together.
